HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We were finally able to finish the inspection issues and come to an agreement, and so with the exception of the buyer's finalizing their mortgage approval my house is SOLD!!! Oh, and last night I put an offer on the house I saw over the weekend! Nothing has happened yet with the offer so stay tuned...

Home Inspection Issues

UGH, I'm still dealing with the inspection issues on my house! It's extremely frustating and it feels like it has been dragging along for weeks (even though it has only been a few days). I haven't been able to get the right people out to give me an estimate on the work found in the inspection report. The good thing is that by tomorrow we will have all the estimates so we can proceed from there. Good news: I found a house that I REALLY like over the weekend! I haven't made a bid yet because we've been so consumed with getting through this inspection process!

Someone Wants to Buy My House

Great news! I accepted an offer on the house and we are currently going through the inspection process - so pray, keep your fingers/toes crossed, and let's hope that the sale goes through!!! Tomorrow I am going to look at houses to buy :-)

How I Arrived Here - Very First Post

Welcome to the debut of my blog! I'm so excited!!! I decided to start this blog because I want to document my journey of adopting, and also I hope by sharing my story that I may help others who are facing the same decision to adopt.

Alrighty then, so where do I start? I've dreamt of adopting for as long as I can remember. I always imagined I would have biological and adopted children. As I approach my mid-thirties, I am not married and presently I'm not in a serious relationship, although I'm still hopeful that I will find the right guy someday. I am just not willing to wait any longer for my dream to become a mother.

I started researching adoption seriously about a year ago, first focusing on the possibility of adopting a child in the foster system. I thought long and hard about it, and I may adopt an older child someday but since this will be my first child I want the experience of raising a baby. So next I started to look into international adoption. I attended an informational meeting with an Adoption Agency close to my home in July 2007. I went to the meeting by myself, and I was the only single person there in a room full of couples. After the meeting I knew 100% that adopting is what I want to do, and I was now dedicated to making it happen.

The first hurdle is - as you can guess - coming up with the funds. No small feat, let me tell you. Depending on the country you choose to adopt from, and the agency you pick, will vary the amount of money you need. Bottom line, I don't have that kind of money just sitting in my bank account so I had to figure out what I was going to do to get the money. The best thing I could come up with was to sell my house. Thankfully, I was ready to move. So now my house is up for sale! Of course, the housing market right now across the country is horrible. Thankfully, I live in a great neighborhood so I am optimistic. The good news is that homes here are selling, the bad news is that they are going for much less than a year or two ago.
