Please excuse me, but I need to vent here for a minute.
I'm mad that my Mom is sick, AGAIN, this time she is currently in the ICU with a pulmonary embolism. Thank God that she fainted, otherwise they wouldn't have found it! Give my Mom a break already, she's had enough to handle health-wise.
I'm mad that I am STILL waiting to adopt. I have been weighing my options to take my adoption plans in another direction, but I'm frankly overwhelmed with the thought of essentially starting the process over!
I'm going to go mad if I have to hear one more story about the woman dubbed "Octu-Mom" - she gives single mother's by choice a BAD name. I'm sick of her and she does NOT deserve any more fame or attention, she needs mental help. The children are innocent. The doctor is not. Let the media go after him and flip him the bill.

Inauguration 2009
At noon on Inauguration Day, Tuesday, January 20, 2009 -- the date and time are defined by the Twentieth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Barack Obama became the 44th President of the United States. This was one of those moments in our lifetime that we will remember where we were on such a historic day. I was at work and our office has TV's in the lobby so a big group of us watched it together. Many others were watching from their desks and at one point the IT guys thought the network might go down because all the streaming media going on! The feeling of being part of the moment, even watching it on TV was amazing. Inauguration day coupled with Martin Luther King's birthday puts things in quite the historical perspective. And just think, the next generation will know a country where they know that anyone regardless of race or gender can be president and they won't think twice about it. Okay, maybe I'm getting a little ahead of myself as we have not had a woman president, yet. LOL!

I am Tired of Winter!
It's mid January and I am officially tired of winter. The snow, ice and extremely cold temperatures have gotten the best of me. I live in northern Illinois (lived here my whole life) and this week it barely hit a high of 5 degrees and at night got down to well below zero. We are way off of the norms. The average high temperature this time of year is supposed to be in the 30s during the day and lows around 20. I am SO ready for spring!

Adoption Status Update
No news on the adoption front. The JCICS (Joint Council on International Children Services), has posted their latest status on Kyrg adoptions and it is the same message. Over a month ago we were told we will hear something after the Kyrgyzstan government officials return from their holidays. I will keep saying my prayers, because things can change daily in the crazy world of international adoption. Let's hope things start moving real soon!!!
